Description

A successful senior producer/writer is a dynamic leading storyteller for print and digital mediums who can demonstrate consistent, effective AP writing and innovative video production techniques, provide experience-based guidance to colleagues, and model expectations as a creative lead for the department. This person should help lead concept development of new, innovative ideas for engaging audiences across multiple platforms including newsletter, web, social media, broadcast and other forms of media distribution. A successful candidate will be highly motivated and will face challenges with enthusiasm, determination, and professionalism.

Essential Responsibilities - specific to this job
Develops, coordinates, scripts, and produces monthly Board Briefs video productions – highlighting stories of significance to our School Board members in the schools they represent
Oversees development, production, and direction of live and recorded televised programming, videotaped segments/productions, teleconferences, and other media for use in instructing and informing staff, students, and community
Helps to lead all activities related to television/video production including shooting, writing, audio, lighting, editing, character generation, and directing
Assists in the production and live broadcast of all School Board meetings
Researches, writes, produces, and edits live and recorded productions
Coordinates videotaping at local and school sites as related to assigned projects
Develops, writes, and edits marketing and promotional materials for the Division
Helps to coordinate scheduling of School Division programming through a broadcast automation system
Consults with administrative/school/department personnel in the development of promotional or training media when appropriate
Projects include but are not limited to:
  • Videos, graphics, animations, and other multimedia for the web, newsletters, and social media
  • Articles to support our internal and external communication efforts
  • A/V support for conferences, seminars, and other group sessions
  • Augmented Reality and 360° video
  • Using artificial intelligence programs to assist in creating, developing, and executing multimedia products
  • Directing and/or supporting live-streamed and broadcasted School Board meetings
Other Job Responsibilities
This position assists Division personnel in communications with staff, students, and community
Research, writing, editing, and communications expertise is utilized when working with local and state, administrative and school personnel, on video and television productions and ensures that commercial broadcast specifications are met when required
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications for Successful Performance
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors
Completion of a college program in communications, journalism, or television production and at least seven years of related on-the-job experience in the production/writing of video for television, social media, and web platforms
An understanding of policies, objectives, priorities, and operating procedures in the production and writing of video programming
Knowledge and ability to develop, organize, script, produce, and/or direct a complete videotaped program or live televised broadcast in an informative, artistic, and professional manner
Knowledge and ability to use word-processing and presentation software: Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of and skill with writing news and web articles using Associated Press style
Knowledge of and skill with using the Adobe Suite of creative products, especially Premiere Pro and After Effects
Ability to maintain schedule of work and to complete duties within deadlines
Ability to work with little supervision
Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
