The Anschutz Medical Campus is hiring for a Director of Financial Aid Services. This is a full-time role that oversees and directs all strategic and operational day-to-day activities relative to financial aid processing, compliance, and reporting on the Anschutz Medical Campus. The director will work continuously to enhance and implement financial aid and scholarship policies and procedures on the Anschutz Medical Campus that positively and effectively impact operations and compliance to support the goals of the university, campus, and schools/college. In addition, the director will evaluate, identify, and implement financial aid and scholarships policies, business practices, and system processing enhancements to increase efficiency and provide superior customer service to all students.

This position will supervise three unit leaders and will oversee a unit with appropriate full-time staff. This position will serve on the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Operations leadership team and will regularly collaborate with the Anschutz Medical Campus University Registrar and the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Financial Aid and Scholarships at the Denver Campus. This position will ensure consistent quality and compliant levels of service for the Anschutz Medical Campus Financial Aid and Scholarships and Registrar units.

This role reports to the CU Anschutz Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a collaborative leader across units that comprise Enrollment Operations at the Anschutz Medical Campus, and similar Enrollment Management units at the Denver Campus.
  • Oversees the development of strategies, support structures, and processes to effectively administer financial aid office operations and compliance at CU Anschutz..
  • Develops a strategic plan that aligns with the campus’ goals.
  • Develops, allocates, and monitors budgets with federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs.
  • Develops, allocates, and monitors departmental budgets as they pertain to strategic initiatives.
  • Develops, oversees, and participates in new internal and external initiatives related to the delivery of financial aid to Anschutz Medical Campus students.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports on data pertaining to federal, state, and institutional regulations and requirements and serves as a collaborative partner to ensure compliant reporting with the Denver Campus.
  • Serves as a key liaison to university administrative, academic, and division offices regarding Anschutz Medical Campus Financial Aid and Scholarships Office operations and administration and will represent the office throughout campus and at external events.
  • Partners with Student Affairs at the Anschutz Medical Campus in the support of emergency funds for students or other unique programs and initiatives that provides financial support to students with specific needs.
  • Promotes staff development, hires staff, establishes and follows through on performance plans/reviews, and strives to enhance and cultivate a culture that promotes student success, continuous improvement, and a diverse and inclusive environment for staff and students.
  • Act in accordance with the directives set forth for the administration of Financial Aid covered under Title IV regulations and as prescribed by the Program Partnership Agreement

Requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education is required.
  • The position requires 4-10 or more years’ experience at the management level, including direct responsibility for oversight support of a department including the development of strategies and processes at college/university with diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in student affairs, student personnel services, higher education, or related field of study.
  • Experience working within a health sciences center or medical/professional school.
  • Advanced experience with supervision and development of professional staff.
  • Previous years of experience at the Associate or Assistant Director level or above in a financial aid office.
  • Prior experience with Oracle PeopleSoft SIS.

  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, characterized by the ability to work effectively with a range of constituents including students, faculty, alumni and campus and university colleagues.

  • Ability to think critically and use logic to assimilate complex concepts in data and interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of financial aid profession.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the fiscal and compliance nature of work in the financial aid office environment of a college or professional school.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with all financial aid related components of a student information system (SIS).
  • Ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in matters that are sensitive and confidential.
  • Ability to work independently and collegially.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $89,796-$100,000.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
