Seeking candidates for the position of Auditor/Trainer/Compliance Specialist (Medical Coding Compliance Specialist, Ambulatory Coding Auditor) at each of the following military locations:
- Camp Lejeune, NC
- Newport, RI
- Jacksonville, FL
- Pensacola, FL
Summary of duties:
Review of medical record documentation and physician services utilizing current ICD-10, CPT and E/M classifications systems. Auditing of coding, formulation of training plans and individual/group training. Follow up on issues or trends found within the documentation of a particular physician for evaluation and further training. Will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, strong computer skills, and experience working with and training physicians. Able to work independently and effectively in order to meet work quota.
REQUIREMENTS (include # of years of experience and required skills)
CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, CCS-P, CCS, CPMA, RHIT, or RHIA certification is required.
Qualified applicants will have at least 10 years of coding experience with a minimum of 5 years work experience in auditing and training. Must demonstrate ICD-10 proficiency.
Applicants should demonstrate the following knowledge of their discipline:
- Detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology and disease process, medical terminology, coding guidelines (inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory surgery), documentation requirements, familiarity with medications, and reimbursement guidelines and experience with encoder.
- Detailed knowledge of auditing concepts and principles
- Advanced knowledge of medical coding and billing systems, as well as regulatory requirements
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Strong presentation skills
- Detailed knowledge of legal, regulatory and policy compliance issues related to medical coding and billing procedures and documentation
- Detailed knowledge of current and developing issues and trends in medical coding procedure requirements
- Detailed knowledge of medical coding systems, procedures, and documentation requirements
- Ability to adapt and modify medical billing procedures, protocol, and data management systems to meet specific operating requirements
- Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or to the general public
- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
- Ability to analyze and solve problems
- Ability to provide guidance and training to professional and technical staff in area of expertise
- Computer literate with knowledge of coding and auditing packages, and office software applications.
Must be able to audit daily minimum encounters at minimum 97% accuracy daily.
Must be able to satisfy the eligibility requirements for obtaining a government issued security clearance.
Physical and annual immunizations as well as TB testing and flu shots required.
Experience with MHS GENESIS and DoD experience desired.
